Paolo Borraccetti
Born and raised in Padova, Italy, Paolo originally thought he would become a sports reporter and began early on covering his hometown’s basketball teams for local newspapers. But it was during the college years that he discovered his passion for comedy and began to write and perform as a stand-up.
He earned a B.A. in Communications at the University of Bologna with the maximum grade (110/110). Following graduation, he moved to Milan, where he worked for years as a writer and editing supervisor for the prime time award-winning Italian television comedy shows “Zelig” and “Zelig Circus”. While in Italy he also had a chance to develop his passion for film and was involved in film production, working alongside Roberto Benigni in the making of the film “Pinocchio”.
Winner of a Fulbright Scholarship, Paolo is now completingg Masters program in Film Production at the prestigious University of Southern California School of Cinematric Arts. His short film “Santiago” that he wrote, directed and produced in 2004, was selected for several different American and International film festivals, including the prestigious Telluride Film Festival, and won several awards.
“Have You Ever Heard About Vukovar?” is his thesis film.
After graduation, Paolo plans to shoot independent features and documentaries both in Italy and in the U.S.
